Dubuquies AdWords ads for Car-Sharing app called Car-Share were purchased with $1.2 million from a third-party, according to a news release from the firm.
The ad agency said the campaign was part of its effort to grow its audience, and the ads are the latest in a series that includes “driving-and-sharing” and “home-sharing.”
The ad agency, called CarShare AdWords, is the latest startup to tap into the booming market of self-driving cars.
In April, Tesla Motors Inc. acquired the car-rental startup Ola, which has about 300,000 vehicles in its fleet.
Tesla also acquired Otto Automotive, a startup that sells cars in parking lots and parking garages.
A spokeswoman for the company, which is based in Dubucque, Iowa and operates under a non-profit umbrella, said the company has “zero” debt.
CarShare ad campaigns, which the company said are targeted to certain segments of the population, have been seen in some of the most popular ads on the social network.
The company is also the latest ad agency to use ad technology to connect consumers to car-sharing apps like Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar.
CarSharing, a company that offers self-storage and storage-sharing for vehicles, has about 60,000 drivers in the United States.
Uber is a car-hailing company that connects drivers with drivers and passengers for rides.
Uber operates in more than a dozen countries, including the U.S.
It’s unclear how many CarShare ad campaign were purchased by the agency, which works with advertisers, agencies, and brands.
DubuQuies said it was not aware of any other CarShare campaigns.
The agency has been advertising for other startups that have not yet launched, including Bose Inc., which sells earbuds.
