Harris Media Inc. has bought advertising firm HMC Advertising, an online marketing company.HMC, based in San Francisco, is a leading provider of direct marketing to retailers and consumer brands.
The Harris Media acquisition is expected to close this week.
The move by Harris is the latest in a series of digital and media acquisitions by the company, which owns the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times and is known for its high-profile TV shows and news coverage.
The newspaper, which is owned by Tribune Publishing Co., is owned and operated by the Tribune family of companies.
The acquisition will expand the Harris media empire to include digital content and media.
It is expected that the new digital business will include video content, podcasts, and other products and services that will be delivered through the Harris Media News channel.
Harris Media, which also owns a large stake in The Associated Press, is the owner of the Chicago Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, and the New York Post, among others.
It has also sold advertising rights for a number of sports and entertainment sites to NBCUniversal, NBC Sports, and CBS Sports.
