A disturbing new ad from the National Rifle Association shows an infant being shot in the head, the result of a “brazen act of violence,” according to the ad’s narrator.
The narrator, a voiceover by NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre, says the ad is “a reminder that gun violence has no place in our society.”
LaPierre says in the ad that “this isn’t America.”
The NRA, which represents the nation’s most powerful gun rights group, has long promoted the idea that gun ownership is a right protected by the Second Amendment.
It also has pushed for stricter gun control laws in states with more restrictive gun laws, including laws that have expanded background checks and require waiting periods for background checks.
The NRA ad was created with help from a nonprofit group called the Campaign for America’s Future, which was created by a group of former NRA employees to support a new ad campaign that will be released on Tuesday.
The ad will feature former NRA chief lobbyist and political strategist Rick Wiles.
The group says it was created to “challenge the NRA’s lies about the Second Ammendment.”
The group has been working to get its message out about gun violence since the shooting of six people and the deaths of another 14 at a Texas church.
The gunman, Devin Kelley, had pledged allegiance to the ISIS terrorist group and had expressed sympathy for ISIS and other militant groups.
